Product Description
Like the Explorer, the Explorer HV is designed for rough water and covering distances as our main expedition kayak for the larger or taller paddler. This kayak is faster than the Romany family while still maneuverable and very directionally stable. It has a large carrying capacity and has been used on a one-month expedition to Antarctica carrying all supplies with no support.
The Explorer HV has exactly the same length, width and storage capacity as the Explorer. The hull comes from the same mold for both models. The HV has the addition of knee humps molded into the deck that provides a more up-right seating position, with knees higher and less splayed. Paddlers who find the stability and performance just right in the Explorer – but prefer more vertical leg room – will like the fit of the HV.
The Explorer HV is fitted with the high performance glass seat (unless otherwise requested). The kayak has a low rear deck for easy rolling, a keyhole cockpit that gives excellent grip, control and allows quick exit if need be. The sloping bulkhead behind the seat allows the kayak to be emptied by lifting only the bow, no x-rescue is necessary.
Length: 17′ 4″, width: 21.3″ inches, depth 15 inches, overall volume: 82.82 gallons, front hatch volume: 19.28 gallons, cockpit volume: 38.83 gallons, day hatch volume: 9.91 gallons, rear hatch volume: 14.79 gallons.
