Full Moon Paddle
Full Moon paddles are special times for paddling to view birds, fish, and dolphins.

This is a Level 2 paddle.  Rental kayaks available for $35 for participants.

Please have the following:  One good headlamp, one rear-facing LED area light on your back or rear deck (Not too bright).  One back up flashlight in a dry-bag or on deck, 3-4 glow sticks (or equivalent). VHF Marine Radio is helpful, hopefully we will have at least five radios in the group. We plan to paddle about 6 statute miles with an optional stop or two to stretch our legs.  Meet at 7:30 pm at 242 Schooner Drive Freeport 77541 in the Treasure Island neighborhood on the bay side just off the Blue Water Highway just before crossing the bridge from Freeport to Galveston.  (Note – $2 cash toll to cross bridge.)

Water temperature reaches averages 70 degrees F but wind and water can vary. Food and hydration are strongly encouraged since we will be out several hours.

To respect our neighbors, please unload quietly and park next door at the Treasure Island Municipal Building.  (No parking on street or grass, please.)  Both outdoor shower and boat wash hose are available for use.  We can use the boat ramp cater corner across the street.

Route Plan

If you don’t want to drive home, some folks will be camping on the beach.  Folks often stay at the nearby Brazoria County RV park (with cabins that may be available to rent) or at a bayhouse through 979VacationRentals (or VRBO). Lynne plans to be at the rented house all week.  Prior to this Full Moon Paddle, contact Lynne if you would like to join the scouting mission (or play in the level 2 to 3 waves  at San Luis Pass).
