  • Standard fiberglass - weighs about 5.5 to 6 kg more than C/K (plus 0.75 to 1.0 kg for optional keel strip)

NDK Explorer HV (blue deck carbon/kevlar)

NDK Explorer HV (blue deck carbon/kevlar) Image
NDK Explorer HV 2020 carbon/kevlar hull with blue deck (in Texas by mid-September 2020) As designed for rough water and covering distances, the Explorer is our main expedition kayak and suits the medium sized paddler. Faster than the Romany family, maneuverable and directionally stable. It has a large carrying capacity and has been used on a one-month expedition to Antarctica carrying all supplies with no support. The Explorer is fitted with the high performance glass seat. The kayak has a low rear deck for easy rolling, a keyhole cockpit that gives excellent grip, control and allows quick exit if needed. The sloping bulkhead behind the seat allows the kayak to be emptied by lifting only the bow (x-rescue is not necessary). The Explorer HV has exactly the same length, width and storage capacity as the Explorer. The hull comes from the same mold for both models. For the taller or larger paddler, the HV has the addition of knee humps molded into the deck that provides a more up-right seating position with knees higher and less splayed. Paddlers who find the stability and performance just right in the Explorer, but would prefer more vertical leg room, will like the fit of the HV. Expedition Kayak for the medium paddler with length: 17.50 feet, width: 21.26 inches, depth: 13.58 inches, overall volume: 82.82 gallons, front hatch volume: 19.28 gallons, cockpit volume: 38.83 gallons, day hatch volume: 9.91 gallons, rear hatch volume: 14.79 gallons.
